Qualified Domestic Relations Order
QDRO CAN PROTECT YOUR RETIREMENT ASSETS IN DIVORCE
A Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO) defines the division of a retirement or pension plan during a divorce, or legal separation. In addition to recognizing a spouses interest, a QDRO can be submitted for child support.
Many Retirement Plans such as 401(k)s, 403(b)s, Deferred Compensation Plans, Private Sector Pensions, Local and Federal Government pensions (military, FERS, TSPs, etc), have to be divided with a document called Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO) to avoid taxation during the divorce. The IRS recognizes QDRO as a vehicle to transfer retirement plan assets between divorced spouse tax free.

Denisa has prepared hundreds of QDROs and prides herself in being ACCURATE, RESPONSIVE AND AFFORDABLE. While it takes most 'QDRO experts' weeks to prepare their draft, Denisa delivers a draft within A FEW DAYS once she receives all that she needs to draft.
IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT THE QDRO IS DRAFTED ACCURATELY AND IN A TIMELY MATTER! The QDRO process, from the time the QDRO document is drafted, certified by the Court and served unto the plan, can take months. That means that the former spouse who is entitled to receive the retirement funds will have to wait the same time. Denisa has seen first hand how not getting the QDRO drafted can lead to undesired outcomes such as further litigation in a divorce.
Denisa frequently lectures nationwide on the topic of QDROs to attorneys and Judges.
